I havehad the honor of serving on the North Carolina Association of Realtors’ Board of Directors for seven years. Each year hundreds of Realtors converge on the State Capitol and Legislative buildings to speak about issues important to home ownership and homeowners. As you know, the Ballantyne area has experienced the same home price decline as has our Nation. We all gather in the legislative meeting room and listen to legislators tell us what they have done or are introducing to support home ownership. Then we go up and down the sacred halls and visit these lawmakers in their office, discussing bills that support home ownership.
This year we had a special treat: we met with Speaker of the house Thom Tillis, Senator Bob Rucho, (Who recently spoke at the Ballantyne Breakfast Club)and Freshman Representative, William “Bill” Brawleyon the floor of the House! Representative Brawley was one of the legislators who introduced House Bill 92 which repealed a 1% transfer tax, affecting homeowners at the time they sell their home. For example, a homeowner selling their home in Ballantyne for $500,000 would pay an additional $5,000 at closing! That’s a significant amount of money to put in your pocket, especially with the decline of home prices!
So, know that this” buzzer” is looking out for you, Ballantyne Homeowners, and making sure she is up-to-date on issues that affect you!!
