New Development Comes to Lake Wylie
Recently NW Lake Wylie and Northwood Investors, developers of the proposed McLean Community, began work on an 800-home community on Lake Wylie. Located off NC highways 273 and 279 just south of Belmont NC, theplanned development will be built on land that was part of the Daniel Stowe estate. Developers claim that there is “nothing like it along the lake.” Lake access is readily available to the development and five miles of exquisite walking and mountain biking trail will eventually connect to the nearby Carolina Thread Trail.
Seven Oaks, a historic home built by John McLean (owner of the property from 1848-1930), is currently being restored and will serve as the main office for the community. The service and sales information center for the planned development will open this spring. Lot sales are also slated to begin in the spring and will include “estate lots” featuring luxurious waterfront views and amenities. It is expected that the waterfront lots will be valued between $1-2 million. More affordable homes will be valued just under $300,000.
Builders for the development will be selected within 60 days– around April developers say. First phase of building homes are scheduled to be completed late this year or early 2016.
