The organizers behind the 1st Annual Ballantyne Festival had a winning combination of events: the Morrison Family YMCA venue, entertainment, sponsors , delicious chili and politicking galore which according to one event organizer attracted more than 800 people! Savvy + Co. Real Estate, home of the BallantyneBuzz, was one of the sponsors this year and we had a blast, meeting and greeting all of the friendly folks of Ballantyne and beyond. Our kiddie table loaded with trick or treat bags, ghostly stickers, markers, and stencils was a huge hit with the budding Picasso’s…plus the candy treats and toy airplanes didn’t hurt either! What kid doesn’t love chocolate or lollipops??
The Savvy booth was a-rockin’! Ella’s Celestial Cakes provideddecadent chocolatecupcakes and brownies in our signature Savvy blue and brown colors and they disappeared faster than you could say “Trick or Treat”! Ella was on hand to showcase her eclectic cakes which she decorated with funky crystals and concentric designs! We also invited the wonderful ladies from the BCC Rally to showcase their pink bows which raises money for breast cancer awareness and treatment. Last year these tireless women raised over $168,000 which is the largest amount raised by any Rally for the Cure in the entire United States – WOW! Between the balloons and Halloween bags, children were lined up to join in the festivities!
Political candidates, including our current Mayor, Anthony Foxx served up Chili and shook hands with the public. Others candidates included Bob Morgan, Warren Cookseyand Edwin Peacock – frequent attendees of the Ballantyne Breakfast Club (one of this event’s sponsors) were on hand as well. Sheriff Chipp Bailey and his crew won the Chili Cook-off contest – congrats, Sheriff!
And most of all, the kiddies had a great time! There was a bouncy house, super-slide provided by Monkey Joe’s and all kinds of activities including face-painting, hair styling and fingernail designs, pumpkin painting and the boys got in on building all kinds of cool spaceships and trucks out of Lego-type things!
Many thanks to the team from Bissell, The Ballantyne Chapter of the Charlotte Chamber of Commerce, Morrison Family YMCA and the Ballantyne Breakfast Club for doing such a great job this year – we are looking forward to next year! Maybe the Buzz can perform next year, dress up in some type of costume and ….nope, better not! 🙂
